On May 7, 2025, the bustling offices of MC Media Group buzzed with a fresh kind of energy: eager, wide-eyed students from Class 7A, stepping behind the scenes to explore the inner workings of a professional media organization.
This unique educational excursion, tied directly to the International Baccalaureate (IB) unit “Is it true you are what you read?”, aimed to sharpen students’ media literacy skills by giving them firsthand experience in a newsroom.
“We want students to question the stories they encounter daily — who creates them, why they’re framed a certain way, and how to discern fact from spin,” said the trip organizer. “This visit makes those abstract lessons come alive.”
Throughout the day, students interviewed veteran journalists, toured production studios, and participated in interactive discussions on the ethics, challenges, and responsibilities of modern media. A highlight was watching a live editorial meeting, where students saw how headlines are crafted under tight deadlines and how accuracy and speed are constantly balanced.
MC Media Group expressed enthusiasm about supporting the next generation of critical thinkers. “We’re thrilled to open our doors to these young minds,” a spokesperson said. “Media literacy is more important than ever, and we’re proud to play a part in their learning journey.”
A post-trip gratitude message summed up the spirit of the event: “A big thank you to MC Media Group for welcoming our 7A students and offering them a deeper insight into the world of journalism! #ThankYou #RealWorldLearning”
With thoughtful preparation, enthusiastic participation, and meaningful follow-up, this visit wasn’t just a field trip — it was a memorable step toward raising thoughtful, informed, and media-savvy young citizens.
